Krazy Kat
CharacterDescription
Krazy Kat is the dreamily romantic central figure of George Herriman's newspaper comic strip, which began in 1913 and ran until Herriman's death in 1944. A gender-ambiguous cat hopelessly in love with Ignatz Mouse, Krazy interprets the bricks Ignatz throws as signs of affection, with Officer Pupp completing the triangle as the dog who tries to protect Krazy. The strip is set in the abstract, shifting landscapes of Coconino County and is among the most artistically distinctive comics ever published.
