Filemon
Description
Filemon is a Spanish comic book character created by Francisco Ibanez. He first appeared in the magazine Pulgarcito in 1958 as one half of the duo Mortadelo y Filemon, the longest-running and most widely translated Spanish comic series.
Filemon Pi is a short, pudgy, balding man who is Mortadelo's direct supervisor at the T.I.A. (Tecnicos de Investigacion Aeroterraquea), a fictional spy agency that parodies the CIA. He is perpetually exasperated by Mortadelo's incompetence and disguises, and frequently bears the brunt of the collateral damage their missions produce.
Despite his attempts to maintain authority and discipline, Filemon is nearly as hapless as his partner. The series has run for over 200 albums and has been adapted into films, an animated television series, and video games. Mortadelo y Filemon is considered one of the most important works in the history of Spanish comics.
