Customizing Tiers and Colors

Overview#

Customizing your tiers makes your tier list truly yours. Change names, pick colors, add or remove tiers - make it match your vision.


Default Tier Structure#

Tier Color Hex Code Meaning
S Red #FF7F7F Best of the best
A Orange #FFBF7F Excellent
B Light Orange #FFDF7F Good
C Yellow #FFFF7F Average
D Light Green #BFFF7F Below average
F Gray #7F7F7F Worst

You can change everything about these tiers!


Renaming Tiers#

  1. Click on the tier name
  2. Type your new name (up to 50 characters)
  3. Press Enter or click outside to save

Tip

Classic: S, A, B, C, D, F

Descriptive: Must Read, Great, Solid, Okay, Pass, Avoid

Funny: Chef's Kiss, Pretty Good, It's Okay, Yikes, Burn It

Numerical: 10/10, 9/10, 8/10, 7/10, 6/10, Below 6


Changing Tier Colors#

  1. Click the color swatch next to the tier name
  2. Use the color picker or enter a hex code (#FF0000)
  3. Preview the change in real-time
  4. Click outside or press Enter to apply

Note
  • Use high contrast between tiers
  • Avoid colors that are too similar
  • Consider colorblind-friendly palettes
  • Brighter/bolder = higher tier (typically)


Adding and Removing Tiers#

Adding Tiers#

  1. Click "Add Tier" button
  2. New tier appears at the bottom
  3. Drag to reorder
  4. Customize name and color
  5. Maximum: 8 tiers per list

Removing Tiers#

  1. Click the trash icon next to the tier
  2. Confirm deletion
  3. Items in that tier move to "Unranked"
  4. Minimum: 2 tiers required

Reordering Tiers#

  1. Click and hold the drag handle next to tier name
  2. Drag the tier up or down
  3. Drop it in the new position
  4. All items move with the tier

Tier Configuration Examples#

Setup Tiers Best For
Minimal 2 tiers Simple good/bad lists
Simplified 3-4 tiers Quick rankings
Standard 5-6 tiers Most tier lists
Granular 7-8 tiers Detailed rankings

Tip

Add tiers for:

  • "Haven't Read Yet"
  • "Need to Reread"
  • "Guilty Pleasures"
  • "Overrated"
  • "Nostalgic Bias"


Common Mistakes to Avoid#

Warning
  • Too Many Tiers - Using 8 tiers for 15 items
  • Similar Colors - #FF0000 and #FF1111 look identical
  • Confusing Names - "Mid-High-Tier" is unclear
  • Unreadable Text - Yellow text on white background
