The Promise

Hammerhead resurfaces with an upgraded techno-suit and a score to settle after his violent encounter with Don Fortunato's men, pulling Ben Urich into his orbit at gunpoint and demanding intelligence on his rival. Spider-Man battles Hammerhead but is caught in the blast from a row of exploding oxygen tanks and knocked out of the fight. Against this backdrop, Peter Parker tells Ben that the cellular degeneration affecting all of the Jackal's clones has reached a critical point, and asks Ben to make a promise: to look after Mary Jane and their unborn child when the time comes.
