Journey into Mystery (1952)
Journey into Mystery began in 1952 as an Atlas Comics anthology featuring horror, mystery, and science fiction stories. Artists included Joe Maneely, Russ Heath, and Bill Everett.
Issue #83 (August 1962) introduced Thor, created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and Jack Kirby. Dr. Donald Blake discovered an enchanted walking stick that transformed him into the Norse God of Thunder. Jack Kirby's art defined the series' superhero era, introducing Asgard, Loki, Odin, and the Warriors Three.
The Tales of Asgard backup feature began in issue #97. The series ran 125 issues, renaming to Thor with issue #126 in 1966.
