This annual series ran alongside the ongoing Swamp Thing title from 1985 through 1993. Its issues continued the numbering of the earlier Saga of the Swamp Thing Annual and followed the main book across the Alan Moore, Rick Veitch, and Nancy A. Collins eras.
The best known installment is Annual #2, Down Amongst the Dead Men, by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette, and John Totleben. In it Swamp Thing casts his consciousness into the Green and journeys through the afterlife in search of Abby, crossing paths with Deadman, the Phantom Stranger, the Spectre, and Etrigan the Demon.
Published by DC Comics, the annuals gave the creative teams room for longer, self contained stories outside the monthly series.
