Katar Hol

Katar Hol is a DC Comics superhero who operates as Hawkman, created by Gardner Fox and Joe Kubert. He first appeared in The Brave and the Bold #34 (1961) as the Silver Age reimagining of the Golden Age Hawkman (Carter Hall).

Katar Hol is a police officer from the planet Thanagar who came to Earth with his wife Shayera (Hawkwoman) to study human law enforcement methods while pursuing the Thanagarian criminal Byth. The couple adopted the identities of museum curators Carter and Shiera Hall. They fight crime using Thanagarian anti-gravity Nth Metal technology, which allows them to fly using artificial wings, and wield an arsenal of ancient weapons from across Earth's history.

The character's continuity became notoriously complicated after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, with the Thanagarian and reincarnation-based versions of Hawkman coexisting in sometimes contradictory ways. Multiple attempts have been made to reconcile these origins. Katar Hol has been a member of the Justice League and is one of DC's most prominent warrior-heroes.
