Boston Brand was a circus trapeze artist performing under the stage name Deadman before his murder at the hands of a mysterious assassin known as the Hook. The goddess Rama Kushna intervened after his death, granting him the ability to possess and inhabit any living body. He uses this power to pursue the circumstances of his own killing and to protect the innocent from threats both earthly and supernatural.
