Frederick Freeman is Captain Marvel Jr., a teenage newsboy who gains superhuman powers by speaking the name Captain Marvel, first appearing in Whiz Comics #25 in December 1941 and created by Ed Herron and C.C. Beck. Saved by Captain Marvel after being gravely injured by the villainous Captain Nazi, Freddy remains a teenager in his powered form and wears a blue-costumed counterpart to his mentor's outfit. He was published by Fawcett Comics before DC Comics acquired the characters and remains part of the Shazam family.
