Green Arrow

Oliver Queen is a DC Comics superhero known as Green Arrow, created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp. He first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 (1941).

A wealthy playboy who was stranded on a deserted island after falling overboard from his yacht, Oliver taught himself archery and survival skills out of necessity. After escaping the island, he adopted the identity of Green Arrow and used his fortune and skills to fight crime, initially operating with a teen sidekick named Speedy (Roy Harper).

In the late 1960s, writer Denny O'Neil and artist Neal Adams transformed the character by stripping away his wealth and reinventing him as an outspoken progressive activist. The acclaimed Green Lantern/Green Arrow series paired him with Hal Jordan, using their contrasting worldviews to tackle social issues. This version of Oliver, a passionate and opinionated street-level hero, became the definitive take on the character.

Green Arrow primarily operates in Star City and is known for his trick arrows, his long relationship with Black Canary, and his willingness to challenge authority. He is a member of the Justice League.
