Animal Man

Buddy Baker is Animal Man, a stuntman who gained the ability to temporarily borrow the physical traits of any animal after exposure to an alien explosion, first appearing in Strange Adventures #180 in September 1965 and created by writer Dave Wood and artist Carmine Infantino. Largely overlooked for two decades, he was redefined in Grant Morrison's acclaimed 26-issue run beginning in 1988 as a meta-aware hero confronting environmental and existential themes. He has appeared across multiple ongoing series and numerous DC titles since.
