Thaal Sinestro of the planet Korugar was once considered the greatest member of the Green Lantern Corps, chosen by the Guardians of the Universe for his fearlessness and dedication to order. His obsession with enforcing peace led him to rule his home world as a tyrant, and he was expelled from the Corps for crimes against his own people. He later founded the Sinestro Corps and wielded a yellow power ring fueled by fear. Created by John Broome and Gil Kane, Sinestro first appeared in Green Lantern vol. 2 #7 in 1961.
