A DC sorceress and the daughter of Golden Age magician Giovanni Zatara. Created by Gardner Fox and Murphy Anderson, she debuted in Hawkman #4 in 1964. Zatanna casts spells by speaking incantations backwards, channeling effects that range from elemental manipulation to teleportation, illusion, and reality alteration. By day she works as a stage magician, blending genuine sorcery into a live act inherited from her father's career. She is a longtime member of the Justice League and Justice League Dark, a frequent partner of John Constantine, and one of DC's most reliable answers to threats that punch through the line between magic and the mainstream superhero world.
