Berkeley Breathed
Biography
Guy Berkeley Breathed is an American cartoonist best known for the newspaper comic strip Bloom County, which debuted in December 1980 and earned him the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 1987. The strip appeared in over 1,200 newspapers at its peak before Breathed retired it in 1989. He followed it with the Sunday-only strips Outland (1989 to 1995) and Opus (2003 to 2008), both featuring characters from Bloom County. Breathed revived the strip in 2015 via social media.
