Dick Grayson
Description
Dick Grayson is a DC Comics superhero created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. He first appeared in Detective Comics #38 (1940) as Robin, the original sidekick to Batman and youngest member of the Dynamic Duo.
The son of circus acrobats John and Mary Grayson, known as the Flying Graysons, Dick witnessed his parents' murder during a performance sabotaged by the mobster Tony Zucco. Bruce Wayne took in the orphaned boy and trained him as Robin, and their partnership doubled the sales of Batman's titles in the 1940s.
Dick outgrew the Robin identity as a young adult and adopted the name Nightwing in Tales of the New Teen Titans #44 (1984), designed by Marv Wolfman and George Perez. As Nightwing he became the protector of Bludhaven, a city neighboring Gotham. He has also led the Teen Titans, served with the Justice League, and temporarily taken on the mantle of Batman. Dick is widely regarded as the heart of the DC Universe's extended superhero community, maintaining close relationships across nearly every major team and legacy.
