Albert Uderzo
Biography
French artist who co-created the Astérix comic series with writer René Goscinny in 1959. Despite being colorblind, Uderzo began drawing professionally at 14 and rose to international fame illustrating the adventures of the indomitable Gaul. After Goscinny's death in 1977 he took over writing duties as well, continuing Astérix solo until his retirement in 2005. Astérix became one of the world's best-selling comics series. He died in March 2020.
