Description
Dark Horse Comics was a full-color anthology the publisher ran from 1992 to 1994 across 25 issues, separate from its flagship black-and-white title Dark Horse Presents. Each issue collected short stories drawn from the company's licensed and creator-owned properties, with a heavy emphasis on its film tie-in lines. Aliens, Predator, and Aliens vs. Predator features ran through nearly the whole series, and only two issues lacked that content. Alongside the science-fiction and horror serials, the book gave space to other Dark Horse characters and original strips, and it was where The Mask first appeared, the green-faced creation later adapted into the Jim Carrey film. A rotating roster of editors, including Jerry Prosser, Diana Schutz, Randy Stradley, and Edward Martin III, steered the title across its run. The format let Dark Horse test characters and short premises in full color while keeping its better-known franchises in steady rotation.
