David Walker
Biography
David F. Walker is an American comic book writer, novelist, filmmaker, journalist, and educator. He began his career writing about film and comics in the 1990s, founding the zine BadAzz MoFo in 1996. He is recognized as a leading scholar of African American cinema and produced the documentary Macked, Hammered, Slaughtered, and Shafted on Blaxploitation films.
Walker's comics career includes Shaft for Dynamite Entertainment, which won the Glyph Award for Story of the Year, as well as Power Man and Iron Fist, Nighthawk, Cyborg, and Occupy Avengers for Marvel and DC. His series Bitter Root (with Chuck Brown and Sanford Greene) won the Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series, and The Black Panther Party: A Graphic History won the Eisner for Best Reality-Based Work. He is also the author of the graphic novel biography The Life of Frederick Douglass and the YA series The Adventures of Darius Logan.
