Biography
Brian Michael Bendis is an American comic book writer born on August 18, 1967, in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his career with creator-owned crime and noir comics, including the Eisner Award-winning titles Jinx, Torso, and Powers (adapted into a PlayStation Network TV series).
At Marvel, Bendis launched Ultimate Spider-Man in 2000, reimagining Peter Parker's origin for a new generation. His 111-consecutive-issue partnership with artist Mark Bagley became the longest run by a Marvel creative team, surpassing Lee and Kirby on Fantastic Four. He relaunched the Avengers franchise with New Avengers (2004) and wrote major events including "Avengers Disassembled," "House of M," "Secret Invasion," and "Siege." He co-created Miles Morales, Jessica Jones, and Riri Williams.
Bendis has won five Eisner Awards. He moved to DC Comics in 2018, writing Superman and Action Comics, before returning to Marvel. He cites David Mamet, Richard Price, and Aaron Sorkin as primary influences on his dialogue-driven style.
