John Ridley
Biography
John Ridley is an American screenwriter, television director, novelist, and comic book writer. He won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for 12 Years a Slave (2013). His other screenwriting credits include Red Tails and Undercover Brother. He created and served as showrunner for the ABC anthology series American Crime.
Ridley began writing for DC Comics with The Other History of the DC Universe (2021), a five-issue series examining the experiences of non-white, non-American heroes including Black Lightning and Katana. He also wrote The Next Batman as part of DC's Future State event. In May 2021, Marvel announced Ridley as a writer on Black Panther.
