Elektra: Assassin (1986)
Elektra: Assassin is an eight-issue Epic Comics limited series from 1986 by writer Frank Miller and painter Bill Sienkiewicz. It opens with the ninja assassin Elektra Natchios confined to a South American asylum, piecing together fractured memories of her past. Her path soon crosses that of John Garrett, a cybernetic S.H.I.E.L.D. agent assigned to hunt her down.
Together they close in on the Beast, an ancient force working to push the world toward nuclear war through a rising presidential candidate. Sienkiewicz's mixed-media painting and a splintered, first-person narration set the book apart from the mainstream super hero comics of its era.
