Biography

Briana Loewinsohn is an American cartoonist based in Oakland, California, where she also teaches high school art. Her debut graphic memoir, Ephemera (Fantagraphics, 2023), was named to the American Library Association's list of top graphic novels of 2023 and won the Foreword Indies Editors Prize for nonfiction. Her follow-up, Raised by Ghosts (Fantagraphics, 2025), received the Harvey Award and the ALA GNCRT Award for Best Young Adult Graphic Novel of 2025.
