Description
Set in present day Puerto Rico, this debut centers on Loli Flores, an activist pushing back against outside investors reshaping the island. Her cause takes a violent turn when a ceremony to break ground on a new development is shattered by something that is not human.
Writer Julio Anta and artist Daniel Irizarri recast the legend of el Chupacabra as a fierce protector rather than a simple monster. The creature's roots reach back to the island's Indigenous past.
The opening issue grounds Loli's fight and the first hints that the old stories carry real weight.
