The Beast of Boriken (2026)

The Beast of Borikén is a contemporary horror series rooted in Puerto Rico and its folklore. It belongs to the True Weird line, which builds fiction on real legends and places.

At its center is Loli Flores, an activist resisting outside developers who are reshaping the island. Her path crosses with el Chupacabra, recast as a fierce guardian tied to the land and its Indigenous history rather than a roadside myth.

Writer Julio Anta and artist Daniel Irizarri use the creature to weigh colonialism, community, and the cost of defending a home. The tone leans into dread and folklore while keeping its politics close to the surface.
