Marie Severin (1929-2018) was an American comic book artist and colorist born in East Rockaway, New York. Her older brother John Severin was also a prominent comics artist. She began her career in 1949 as a colorist at EC Comics, where she became the company's main colorist and a key member of its production team.
In 1959, Severin joined the company that would become Marvel Comics as a production artist and head colorist, a role she held until 1972. She then shifted to penciling, drawing stories of the Hulk, Sub-Mariner, and other characters. She was a regular artist on all 13 issues of Not Brand Echh (1969-1970), Marvel's self-parody humor title, and later contributed to the satiric magazine Crazy. She co-created several Marvel characters including Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew), the Cat (Greer Nelson/Tigra), and the Living Tribunal.
Severin is an inductee of both the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame and the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.
