Sam and Twitch (1999)

NYPD homicide detectives Sam Burke and Maximilian "Twitch" Williams headline this Image Comics ongoing from writer Brian Michael Bendis. Spinning out of Todd McFarlane's Spawn, the title moves the pair from supporting cast to leads in a hard-boiled crime book set in the same urban world. Bendis grounds the run in police procedural plotting and dialogue-driven storytelling, with art primarily by Angel Medina and Ashley Wood.
