Secret Wars

A twelve-issue crossover event from Marvel (1984 to 1985), written by Jim Shooter with art by Mike Zeck and Bob Layton. It was one of the first major crossover events in superhero comics.

A cosmic entity called the Beyonder transports heroes and villains to a distant planet called Battleworld, forcing them to fight with the promise of fulfilling their deepest desires. Key characters include Spider-Man, the Avengers, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Doctor Doom, and Magneto.

The series introduced Spider-Man's black costume, which later became the basis for Venom.
