Hiroshi Motomiya
Biography
Hiroshi Motomiya is a Japanese manga artist born in Chiba Prefecture. He debuted in 1965 and built a career creating action and drama-oriented manga, many of which have been adapted into live-action television series and anime.
His most commercially successful work, Salaryman Kintaro, was serialized in Weekly Young Jump from 1994 to 2002. The series, about a former motorcycle gang leader who enters the corporate world, sold over 35 million copies. Other notable works include Otoko Ippiki Gaki Daisho, Ore no Sora, and Tenchi wo Kurau.
Motomiya was also an early adopter of digital manga distribution. Salaryman Kintaro began appearing as an online comic in 2005, making it one of the first major manga properties to embrace digital publishing in Japan.
