Japanese manga artist born in 1945 who became a defining figure in the science fiction and mecha genres. Nagai debuted in 1967 and created both Mazinger Z and Devilman in 1972. Mazinger Z established the concept of a hero-piloted giant robot, shaping decades of mecha fiction. He founded Dynamic Productions and has contributed to over 360 manga titles across his career.
