Biography
Japanese manga artist born in 1943, known for dark and controversial subject matter. Akiyama debuted in 1966 and made a strong impact with Asura in 1970. His longest work, Haguregumo, ran in Big Comic Original from 1973 to 2017 across 112 volumes and won the 1979 Shogakukan Manga Award. He died in May 2020.
