Japanese manga artist born in 1947, best known for Sanchoume no Yuhi (Sunset on Third Street), a long-running nostalgic slice-of-life series set in post-war Tokyo. The series was adapted into a popular film trilogy directed by Takashi Yamazaki beginning in 2005.
