G. Willow Wilson
Biography
G. Willow Wilson is an American comic book writer and novelist born on August 31, 1982, in Monmouth County, New Jersey. She studied at Boston University, where she converted to Islam after exploring multiple religions. After graduating, she moved to Cairo to teach English and wrote freelance articles for the Atlantic Monthly, New York Times Magazine, and other publications.
Wilson co-created the character Kamala Khan alongside editor Sana Amanat, launching the new Ms. Marvel series in February 2014. The series, featuring Marvel's first Muslim character to headline a book, won the 2015 Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story. Wilson wrote Ms. Marvel through February 2019. Her other Marvel credits include A-Force and X-Men.
Her prose novel Alif the Unseen (2012) won the 2013 World Fantasy Award for Best Novel. Since June 2022, Wilson has written the ongoing Poison Ivy series for DC Comics.
