George Baker
Biography
George Baker (1915–1975) was an American cartoonist who worked as an animator at Walt Disney Studios before being drafted in 1941. While stationed at Fort Monmouth he created The Sad Sack, a pantomime strip for Yank, the Army Weekly depicting the misadventures of an unlucky private. After the war he transformed the character into a syndicated comic strip and long-running comic book series.
