Bill Mantlo was a prolific comic book writer, primarily for Marvel Comics during the 1970s and 1980s. He was known for his character-driven narratives, notably on licensed titles like Rom and Micronauts.

Mantlo also co-created the duo Cloak and Dagger. After his comics career, he pursued a legal career as a public defender.
