Biography
Gail Simone is an American comic book writer known for character-driven work and sharp dialogue. She began as a critic, gaining attention with her "Women in Refrigerators" column that highlighted the trope of female characters being harmed to motivate male heroes.
Simone became one of the industry's most prominent writers, working for DC, Marvel, Dynamite, Dark Horse, Valiant, and Lion Forge. Her notable runs include Birds of Prey, where she elevated the all-female team, Secret Six with its morally gray cast, Batgirl in the New 52 era, Wonder Woman, and Red Sonja at Dynamite.
She has also written for licensed properties including Deadpool, The Simpsons, and Tomb Raider. Beyond comics, Simone has contributed to animation and remains an outspoken advocate for representation in the medium.
