Biography

American author born in 1875 who created Tarzan of the Apes and John Carter of Mars, both first published in pulp magazines in 1912. His Tarzan character became a multimedia phenomenon spanning novels, films, and a newspaper comic strip that appeared in hundreds of papers worldwide. He founded his own publishing company in 1923 and died in 1950.
