Biography
George Morikawa is a Japanese manga artist born in Tokyo in 1966. He debuted while still in high school and began serializing Hajime no Ippo in Weekly Shōnen Magazine in October 1989. The boxing manga won the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen in 1991 and had accumulated over 100 million copies in circulation by 2023, making it one of the longest-running sports series in manga history. As of 2026, the series remains ongoing.
