It Started On Yancy Street... Again!

A black hole tears open on the Lower East Side while Peter and Mary Jane are heading to dinner, pulling three teenagers into the vortex. SHOC arrives and identifies the anomaly as connected to his own dark force powers, equipping Spider-Man with an energy armband that lets him enter the Negative Zone. Inside, Spider-Man finds a civil war between the warlord Blastaar and a shadow-wielding freedom fighter known only as Dusk, and uses Dusk's ability to merge with shadows to trick Blastaar and recover the kids. The issue marks the first appearance of the Dusk identity that Peter Parker later adopts during the Identity Crisis arc. Written by Howard Mackie, art by John Romita Jr.
