André Franquin
Biography
Belgian comics artist (1924–1997) and a central figure in Franco-Belgian comics. He took over Spirou et Fantasio in 1946, later adding the Marsupilami to the cast. In 1957 he created Gaston Lagaffe, an accident-prone office worker who became one of his most beloved characters. His work shaped a generation of artists at the Spirou weekly.
