Dan Parent
Biography
Dan Parent is an American comic book artist and writer who has been one of the defining creators at Archie Comics for over three decades. He joined the company as a staff artist in 1987 after graduating from the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Art, initially working on production and licensing before drawing Veronica's first solo comic.
Parent went on to write and draw titles including Cheryl Blossom, Betty & Veronica Spectacular, and Archie & Friends. In 1996 he went freelance, also taking on work for Marvel Comics, Disney, Felix the Cat Productions, and Golden Books. He taught humor, design, and advertising illustration at the Joe Kubert School for five years.
In 2010 he created Kevin Keller, the first openly gay character in Archie Comics history, debuting in Veronica #202. The issue sold out and Kevin received his own ongoing series in 2012. Parent earned the 2013 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book for the title.
