Description
Fight Comics was a long-running adventure anthology from Fiction House, published from January 1940 to January 1954 across 86 issues. The title packed each issue with multiple strips covering a range of action genres, from military adventure and boxing to espionage and jungle tales. Among its notable recurring features were Chip Collins, a fast-talking adventurer; Rip Carson, a paratrooper; Super-American, a wartime patriotic hero; and Senorita Rio, a glamorous spy operating in Latin America during World War II whose strips are among the more celebrated examples of Fiction House's female-led adventure serials. The anthology format kept the pacing brisk, with short self-contained stories that shifted in setting and tone from feature to feature. Like other Fiction House titles, Fight Comics was distinguished by dynamic, kinetic artwork and a consistently high page count. The book evolved across its run from a pre-war action showcase into a wartime anthology and then into peacetime adventure stories as the 1950s approached, reflecting the shifting preoccupations of its audience across 14 years of continuous publication.
