Hands of the Mandarin

Hands of the Mandarin is a 1994-1995 Marvel crossover spanning Iron Man #310-312, War Machine #7-10, Force Works #6-8, and Marvel Comics Presents #169-172. The Mandarin discovers the Heart of Darkness, an ancient alien artifact, and uses it to generate an anti-technology field as he attempts to conquer China and return the world to a feudal age. He dispatches his superhuman Avatars to raze Hong Kong. The crossover also resolves the long-running rift between Tony Stark and James Rhodes, as Iron Man and War Machine must reconcile to stop the Mandarin's assault. Stark ultimately defeats the Mandarin using a techno-organic virus that bypasses the anti-tech field.
