Darkseid

Darkseid is a DC Comics supervillain created by Jack Kirby. He first appeared in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (1970) and was fully introduced in Forever People #1 (1971) as part of Kirby's Fourth World saga.

Darkseid is the tyrannical ruler of the planet Apokolips, a nightmarish world of fire pits and slave labor. Born as Prince Uxas, he murdered his brother Drax to claim the Omega Force, which grants him the devastating Omega Beams, energy blasts that can disintegrate, teleport, or resurrect their targets. His ultimate goal is to discover the Anti-Life Equation, a mathematical proof that would allow him to dominate the will of every sentient being in the universe.

He is one of the most powerful beings in the DC Universe, a threat to the entire Justice League rather than any single hero. His conflict with the heroes of New Genesis, particularly Orion (his own son), and his repeated invasions of Earth make him one of DC's premier cosmic villains.
